Why participate in a Clinical trial?

What does a clinical trial have to offer me as a cancer patient?  The answer is, it may give you early access to cutting edge treatment before it is commercially available.  Cancer treatments available in clinical trials have been tested in humans and found to have some effect.  Clinical trials offer standard treatment either in comparison with an experimental drug (that has shown some effect) or in place of observation if that is standard for your cancer type.  Clinical trials are very closely regulated and in most cases the care provided is more comprehensive than standard care.  Dr. Palchak is a long time member of the Cooperative Research Group called Alliance.  We offer clinical trials for the treatment of cancer and it’s symptoms.  We have access to 150 trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and Cooperative Groups.  Clinical trials provide treatment over and above standard treatment.
